Jake Paul: ‘It’s going to be a short night for Mike Tyson’

YouTuber-turned boxer Jake Paul has gone 10-1 thus far as a pugilist but faces his most dangerous opponent at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Friday.  “The Problem Child” takes on former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in the featured fight at the Most Valuable Promotion’s boxing event.

Originally, the bout was scheduled to take place on July 20, but was postponed due to Tyson suffering an ulcer flare up due to ‘too much bad food and stuff.’ The match was rescheduled for Nov. 15, but Paul still fought on the July 20th date.

Paul is coming off a TKO win over Bare Knuckle boxing standout Mike Perry in July. He’s confident heading into Friday’s showdown with “Iron Mike” and predicts that he’ll knock the boxing legend out.

“I’m just blessed to be here, so grateful for all the fans that show up.  Dallas is going to be an amazing night on Friday and I’m just happy.  God is with me this week, and I’m just having fun and doing my thing,” Paul said during the event’s open workouts.  “I feel really good, sharp, powerful, explosive.  And it’s going to be a short night for Mike.”

While Paul has youth on his side, Tyson has experience and accomplishment.  Tyson’s fought in some of the biggest pay-per-view bouts in boxing history, but Paul doesn’t think experience will be a key on Friday.

“It’s not about how long you’ve been doing something.  It’s about how good you do it,” Paul said.  “On Friday night, people are going to see me outbox the person that’s been doing it their whole life.”

“Friday, my dreams come true and my career starts.  This is the start of an amazing journey.  What I’ve done so far doesn’t matter.  Friday night, my career starts,” Paul continued.

Paul’s mother is apprehensive every time her son steps in the ring, but she’s particularly concerned heading into this fight.  Paul reassured her that he’s going to emerge victorious and do so in spectacular fashion.

“She doesn’t like watching Mike Tyson throw punches because she a little bit scared.  But mom, I promise you, I was built for this, destined for this.  The Gods got me.  The universe has got me, and I, Jake Joseph Paul, will knockout Mike Tyson Friday… It is written in the f*cking history books,” he said.
