Mike Tyson: ‘My intention is to knock Jake Paul out’

Days ahead of his return to the ring, former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson spoke with TMZ Sports about his upcoming boxing match against YouTuber-turned boxer Jake Paul

Tyson and Paul headlined Friday’s Most Valuable Promotions event at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.  The 58-year old Tyson plans to add another knockout to his career highlights.  At 27, Paul looks to take out a legendary name.

With the 31-year age gap between them, there are Jake Paul fans that may have never seen Tyson fight, or appreciate his legacy.  For those, Tyson had a message.

“If they’ve never seen my fights they missed a hell of a legacy,” Tyson said.  “Friday night, they can look forward to seeing their man, Jake Paul, get beaten bad.”

Regardless of his age, Tyson believes he can get the job done against the much younger opponent.  When he steps in the ring on Friday, Tyson will be bringing with him bad intentions.

“My intention is to knock him out,” Tyson said.  “I think he’s weakness is getting in the ring with me.”

The fight will air live and free on Netflix and has the potential to be the most watched fight in history.  That isn’t lost on Tyson.

“This is the biggest fight in the history of life,” Tyson said.  “There’s never been a fight this big.”

Tyson last fought in November 2020, facing Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout. The fight went the distance and was ruled a draw. He last fought in a sanctioned boxing match in 2005, losing to Kevin McBride via RTD, meaning Tyson quit on the stool.
