On Friday Jake Paul defeated Mike Tyson via a unanimous decision in one of the biggest boxing events of all time. There was plenty of controversy surrounding the fight and in the end, it went about as predictable as we thought it would. But no matter the circumstances, Paul now has a win over a boxing legend on his record and he’s likely to leverage that for his next fight.
But who might that be? Oddsmakers have their thoughts on who he’ll probably fight next.
Who will be Jake Paul’s next opponent?
Canelo Alvarez +350
Canelo Alvarez is the name that’s the most likely for Paul next, and we just need to get ready for it. Both fighters seem game for it. Paul thinks a win over Alvarez could legitimize him as a boxer, and he’s not wrong. “One of the best to ever do it, a legend, pound-for-pound great, if not the best in the sport,” he said. “What excuse does the audience have [and] does Canelo have when that happens?”
KSI +500
KSI and Paul have a long-standing relationship that is highly complicated. KSI has been vocal about wanting to fight Jake saying, “I really, really love this whole boxing scene, it gives me purpose, it’s my passion right now, so I just want to keep doing and eventually get to Jake Paul and knock him out.” But he’s now business partners with Jake’s brother Logan so a fight between the two could get dicey on many levels. It wouldn’t be all that competitive and in the long term would not have any weight in terms of boxing legacy.
Tommy Fury +550
Paul’s lone loss is to Tommy Fury, the brother of Tyson Fury. It makes sense to rebook this as the fight was close and Paul believes he did enough to win. It’s also the only legitimate opponent in the boxing scene he’s ever faced. Promoters could bill it as a redemption fight and it would be something fans would tune in to see.
Floyd Mayweather +750
The only other person booking ridiculous fights right now is Floyd Mayweather. But they may be too different size-wise to make the fight happen. I can’t see Mayweather playing second fiddle to Paul either. The egos in that fight would be ginormous.
Conor McGregor +800
Never say never, but this fight is never happening. I can’t see the UFC (namely Dana White) agreeing to let Conor McGregor fight Paul. White isn’t the biggest fan of Paul’s and even more so now that he’s fought White’s close friend, Mike Tyson.
Other names in the mix to fight Paul are:
Gennadiy Golovkin +1000 Jorge Masvidal +1250 Ryan Garcia +1500 Nate Diaz +1800 Antonio Brown +2500 Joe Rogan +3500 Other +1200
We many not know who Paul is fighting next, but we do know that he’ll need to to be step up from Tyson and honestly, what could that even be?
