Team Islam Makhachev and Nate Diaz launch water bottles at each other | Video

Friday was a big day in Las Vegas for the Ultimate Fighting Championship.  In the morning, the fighters competing on Saturday’s UFC 310 pay-per-view event officially weighed in.  Later in the afternoon they participated in the event’s ceremonial weigh-in.

Prior to the UFC 310 Ceremonial Weigh-in, the four fighters headlining the UFC 311 fight card appeared a press conference to promote the Jan. 18 event.  UFC 311 is headlined by two world title bouts.  In the main event, lightweight champion Islam Makhachev takes on Arman Tsarukyan in a rematch.  In the co-main event, bantamweight titleholder Merab Dvalishvili takes on the undefeated Umar Nurmagomedov.

Backstage at the UFC 311 press conference, Makhachev’s team and former UFC fighter Nate Diaz engaged in an altercation that resulted in both launching water bottles at each other.  The incident was caught on camera.

Diaz last fought in the octagon at UFC 279 in September 2022, defeating Tony Ferguson via submission.  It was the final fight of his contract and opted to leave the fight promotion.

In August 2023, Diaz made his professional boxing debut, losing to Jake Paul via unanimous decision.  In July, he and Jorge Masvidal rematched in the boxing ring.  Diaz won via majority decision.  The two first fought for the inaugural “BMF” belt at UFC 244.  Masvial won that night by doctor stoppage.
