Conor McGregor credits Dana White for helping him surpass Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo financially

Dana White‘s work throughout his career earned him the chance to be featured on the cover of Forbes magazine, leading to Conor McGregor reminiscing on his own Forbes achievement.

Although he sometimes may not act like it, ‘The Notorious’ hasn’t forgotten who helped him achieve the great things he has throughout his career. While many UFC alumni have gone on to accomplish a lot outside of the octagon, none have quite hit the heights that the Irishman has.

Conor McGregor has successfully ventured into several lanes of business while also retaining his place as the highest earner under the UFC banner. Back in 2020, those accolades helped him appear on the Forbes Top 10 Highest-Paid Athletes list; edging out soccer players Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for the top spot.

After Dana White’s feature on the cover of Forbes magazine, McGregor took to social media to congratulate his boss.

“Dana White, congrats on the Forbes cover,” McGregor said in a post on social media. “A man that helped me top the Forbes Highest Paid Athlete list!”

Conor McGregor was by far the highest-earning athlete of the year when he topped the Forbes list; though most of his earnings came from outside of fighting.

“Adding in his endorsements, McGregor made $158 million outside of his fighting career over the last 12 months,” said Forbes.

“[He was] only the third athlete, after Roger Federer and Tiger Woods, to earn more than $70 million off the field in a single year while still actively competing.”

While it was undoubtedly a significant moment in Conor McGregor’s career, the Dublin native believed this was possible years prior.

During his rise to superstardom, McGregor met with Cristiano Ronaldo and told him that he would eventually catch him atop the Forbes Highest-Paid Athletes list, and he did just that.
