Jorge Masvidal and Canelo Alvarez shared some knowledge as they trained together at the Capetillo Boxing Gym recently.
The gym the pair attended is run by renowned boxing and MMA coach Jorge Capetillo and his son Brandon. His traditional Mexican boxing style is beloved by countless recognizable names in combat sports, with one of the greatest boxers of his generation, Tyson Fury, and former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno just two of many to have benefited from Capetillo’s tutelage.
Jorge Masvidal has teased a UFC comeback and hopes to compete inside the octagon later this year. As he ramps up training for his potential return, Masvidal got to learn from the best.
Recently released footage of ‘Gamebred’ shows him spending time with Canelo Alvarez. However, the 40-year-old was also soaking up knowledge from boxing legend Roberto Duran during his time at the highly respected gym.
A video has surfaced showing several moments of the Jorge Masvidal’s trip to the Capetillo Boxing Gym as he reportedly nears his combat sports return.

Across boxing and MMA, Jorge Masvidal has lost each of his last five outings and would likely want to improve to get through the worst slump of his career.

The fan-favorite last competed in any form of combat sports almost year ago. Despite entering the bout as the favorite to win, Masvidal was on the wrong side of a majority decision against Nate Diaz.
Coincidentally, Diaz is the last fighter Masvidal beat during his career when he scored a controversial doctor stoppage victory at UFC 244 in late 2019.
Since that win, the Miami native has been beaten by both Colby Covington and Gilbert Burns, and twice by Kamaru Usman.
Under the guidance of the three aforementioned boxing legend’s, Jorge Masvidal wishes to return to winning ways when he makes the walk to compete once again.
