Aljamain Sterling choked unconscious on Russian reality show | VIDEO

While coaching on The Ultimate Fighter in Russia, Aljamain Sterling was choked unconscious by one of his fighters.

TUF has produced some of the greatest fighters in UFC history, but their spinoffs in countries outside the United States are often overlooked. Despite providing great entertainment to viewers for almost two decades, The Ultimate Fighter has its negatives, as tempers can sometimes lead to unwanted situations inside the fighter house.

The Russian version of the competition has already displayed some wild moments during its time on air, and a recent mishap has joined the long list of chaos.

Aljamain Sterling is present as one of this season’s coaches. Acting as the opposing coach alongside the 35-year-old is fellow UFC star Petr Yan—who has shared the cage twice with his counterpart.

However, Sterling hasn’t had the greatest of times on the show. Early signs of enjoyment quickly turned sour when Sterling was choked out by one of his teammates.

Video footage shows ‘Aljo’ caught in a tight rear naked choke before commotion ensued. Once separated, the recording pans down to present an unconscious Sterling lying on the ground.

Aljamain Sterling has enjoyed much success in the octagon throughout his career, managing to capture the UFC bantamweight title seven years after making his promotional debut.

The North American also holds the record for the most consecutive defenses of 135 lbs gold, defending his throne three times before being knocked out by Sean O’Malley.

Sterling now resides in the UFC featherweight division, fighting his way to a 1-1 record in the weight class since moving up from bantamweight.

Following his stint as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter, Aljamain Sterling is hoping to force his way into the title picture and join the exclusive list of two-division champions in the UFC.
