Conor McGregor hasn’t set foot inside the octagon since UFC 264 in July 2021. He was scheduled to return at UFC 303 last June but pulled out of the event citing a toe injury.
Insiders are skeptical about McGregor ever fighting again, including UFC broadcaster and popular podcast host Joe Rogan. On Tuesday, McGregor provided a glimmer of hope but it came with a stipulation.
“I’ll only come back to a stadium,” McGregor wrote on X.

In the post, McGregor retweeted a video shared by TKO (TKO Group Holdings) from WWE’s WrestleMania 41 that took place over the weekend at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. TKO Group Holdings owns both UFC and WWE.
Allegiant Stadium is a 62 acre, ten-level domed stadium that seats 65,000 spectators with an expandable capacity of 71,835. It’s officially in Paradise, Nev., adjacent to Las Vegas.
Before he could return, McGregor would have to re-enter the anti-doping testing program. McGregor hasn’t been tested by Drug Free Sport International (DFSI), the agency the fight promotion uses to collect samples, this year. DFSI sends the samples to be tested to World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)-accredited Sports Medicine and Research Testing Laboratory (SMRTL). Typically, fighters are required to be in the testing pool for six months prior to being granted a license to compete.
