Former two-division UFC champion B.J. Penn has a lot of people worried. The mixed martial arts legend has made serval social media posts in recent months alleging that his mother and siblings have been murdered and replaced by imposters motivated by stealing his assets.
Penn was arrested last weekend and charged with ‘abuse of a family or household member,’ according to online records. Days later, his mother, Lorraine Shin, requested and received a restraining order against her 46-year-old son.
Penn posted a video of the arrest to social media. After being released from police custody, Penn doubled down on his assertion that his family has been replaced, calling his mother, or the imposter mother, a ‘murdering thief.’

“HIT ME! HIT ME! HIT ME! – is that an 80 year old woman ???,” Penn wrote on Instagram. “This isn’t the first time that Imposter identity theif FAKE LORRAINE SHIN has tried to get me to assault her and she has already walked around my house with a gun when I asked her about my finances and my families finances. This lady knows nothing about business and is a murdering theif. The REAL LORRAINE SHIN MAKES THIS MORON LOOK PARKED.”
Penn once held the UFC lightweight and welterweight titles. He was inducted in the UFC Hall of Fame in 2015 but has recently been displaying alarming behavior. He last fought in May 2019, losing to Clay Guida by unanimous decision.
In the years since, Penn has had several brushes with the law. In January 2021, Penn was arrested under suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. In June 2019, video emerged of Penn fighting a bouncer after being thrown out of a bar. Two months later, Penn was involved in another bar fight caught on video. In January 2015, Penn was arrest after an altercation at a Maui hotel.
