No. 5 ranked women’s flyweight contender Maycee Barber did not have a good UFC Vegas 107 fight week. “The Future” missed weight during Friday’s weigh-in and was then forced out of the main event match against No. 4 ranked Erin Blanchfield when the two were about to make their walks to the octagon.
Barber, according to UFC executive Hunter Campbell, suffered a seizure moments before making her way to the cage at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday. The featured fight was immediately canceled and Barber was transported to a local hospital.
On Sunday, Barber released a statement via social media and vowed to return after her medical issues are diagnosed and treated.
“Not what I had planned for a Sunday post. Thank you to everyone for the prayers & support I owe an apology to @ufc @mickmaynard2 @danawhite @seanshelby & @blanchfield_mma ** PS my life is not messy this is just a bad hand. We will get to the bottom of it all and be back,” she wrote.

During the UFC Vegas 107 Post-Fight Press Conference, Blanchfield ripped Barber. Barber saying her ‘life is not messy’ was a response to Blanchfield’s comments.
“She needs to look at another division. She needs to fix her life. She just needs to fix herself,” Blanchfield said. “I think she’s a complete mess in every aspect of her entire life.”
With a solid performance on Saturday, either woman could have earned a title shot. When Barber couldn’t compete, they both lost out on a big opportunity.
“This fight was possibly a contenders fight,” Blanchfield said during the UFC Vegas 107 Post-Fight Press Conference. “I was really ready to put on a show tonight. It definitely leaves me in a bit of a weird place. I mean I know there’s other girls in the Top 5 that I could fight. I guess we’ll just have to go back and reassess.”
