The Albuquerque Journal obtained Albuquerque Police Department body cam footage from Jon Jones‘ alleged crash scene that he been accused of leaving.
On June 17, Jones was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, a misdemeanor charge (no great bodily harm or death). The incident allegedly occurred on Feb. 24. Jones has denied the allegations and maintains that he wasn’t in the vehicle in question.
In the video, officers responded to a car crash. A woman was in the vehicle and responded to questions. She handed her phone to an officer and said that the person on the other end of the line was Jon Jones. “He was the one driving the vehicle,” she told the officer. “That’s Jon Joes”
The man on the phone, allegedly Jones, could be heard slurring his words and allegedly made threats. “He’s making threats,” the officer said before calling for backup. The person on the phone can be heard saying, “My brothers: They kill people for way less.”
When speaking to a second officer on the scene, the deputy said, “I just got threatened over the phone… He said I know some people that can hurt you for less money.”
The women in the vehicle again stated that the person on the phones was Jon Jones.
