Jon Jones offered blockbuster Fedor Emelianenko fight in White House-style event

As rumors of his return at the UFC’s White House event grow stronger, Jon Jones has been handed a legendary fight offer that could be his biggest to date.

The White House UFC show is going to be a one-and-done type of affair, which will likely showcase the best the sport has to offer with a mind-blowing lineup of fighters. All the biggest names have been linked with a spot on the card, but one man who may not be competing is ‘Bones’.

Despite loving the idea of featuring at the White House, Jon Jones was refused a place at the event by Dana White. The former two-division world champion has been labeled too much of a risk by the UFC CEO, but he has received an offer to spare his blushes.

While attending an IBA Bare Knuckle boxing show as the guest of honor, Jones was approached by the head of IBO boxing, Al Siesta, who gave him a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“Listen to this, if that’s not happening, I’ve got an alternative for you,” Siesta told Jones after doubts about him competing at the UFC White House event arose. “Red Square, would you like it to happen on the Red Square?”

Jones insisted that his contractual obligations with the UFC prevent him from negotiating any deal with the promoter, but Siesta furthered his pitch.

“No, listen. If we agree with Dana White, we bring you to the Red Square as an alternative to the White House card. Dana, I’ll speak to you about it…”

“I’m gonna get someone like Fedor [Emelianenko].”

After listening to the offer, Jones decided to turn it down, insisting fans wouldn’t want to see it.

“No,” Jones said. “No one wants to see Fedor and I fight. I don’t want to fight Fedor, I absolutely love Fedor, he’s been one of my big idols for a long time.”

“It’s the same with Anderson Silva, these guys inspired me in my youth, and that will never change.”

Red Square is a historic place of interest in the heart of Moscow, which carries huge symbolic weight, highlighting Russian history.

Similar to the White House, Red Square has never hosted any combat sports event, so to headline a possible card alongside Fedor Emelianenko would be a monumental alternative option for Jon Jones.
